Today on Mecha Analysis, we look at episode 4 of G no Reconguista.
Something to keep in mind when looking at the mechanical designs of G no Reconguista: The ones responsible for mechanical design are as follows,
  • Akira Yasuda, known for designing mechs in Turn A Gundam, Code Geass and Overman King Gainer.
  • Kimitoshi Yamane, notable for mechanical designs in G Gundam, Gundam SEED, SEED Destiny, SEED Stargazer, IGLOO, and Eureka Seven: AO
  • Not much can be found about Ippei Gyobu. I think he's new.

Episode 4
I am more and more thrilled with what Tomino has in store for us as we progress through the episodes. This time we get to see more of the world in the Pirate's perspective. We also get a hint of the world beyond Earth. I am excited to see what is at the end of the space elevator!

Catish

The Capital Guard/Army seems to take pride in this mobile suit. Flown around like USN/USMC Blue Angels, paraded around holding banners, even used as pedestals (like Lacus Clyne's Zaku Warrior). These things are everywhere!

The captain once again shows his superior fighting skills with a Catish against Kilm Nick in his Montero. This guy is a certified badass in a cockpit of a Catish.

One new item the Catish show off in this episode is the shin rockets. How much more can these grunt suits carry?

Montero

Highlight of this episode: Klim gets his fingers chopped.

I like how Klim claims he is a genius, yet he continuously gets owned by the 'Instructor' piloting nothing but a regular Catish. Hopefully that is something we see evolve in Klim.

Grimorie

Beam cords seam to be a regular weapon among pirates. In this episode, we see a Grimorie use a beam cord to snare a Catish before pumping it with lasers.

The more I see this in action, the more I want the kit.

Arcane

I was hoping this suit would see some action this episode. Unfortunately the suit mainly stands on the vessel for defensive measure.

Next time, Arcane. Next time...

G-Self

Two new features we see on the G-Self,

Some sort of energy burst as Bellri yells "SU-Code",

and an escape pod.
The G-Self is starting to get a lot of Moonlight Butterfly vibes. I am not sure how I feel about that. Hopefully it is not too far fetched.
I think I covered everything in this episode. I hope to see you next week on Mecha Analysis! There also might be a quick review on a Gunpla kit coming this weekend, so stay tuned!
